Mucho Loco is available across several select countries, but it isn’t a staple in the United States. Although somewhat similar to the Mango Loco, the Mucho Loco flavor is more complex and blends a lot more tropical fruits, rather than just being a Mango-flavored drink. Here are our thoughts about Mucho Loco after trying it.

Flavor Profile

Although Mucho Loco isn’t sold as a Juice variation in the same way Mango Loco is, its flavor is noticeably less sweet and more juice-like than other Monster Energy flavors, with fairly low carbonation. The lack of excess fizz makes it a good morning flavor.

Initially, I was hit with a strong blend of Mango and Granadilla. The presence of strong Granadilla (Passion Fruit) is one of the key distinctions between it and the Mango Loco. There are additional tropical fruits in the mix that add a background layer of complex flavors, but it’s difficult to identify them individually.

Again, the flavor is quite subtle and not as sharp as most other Monster flavors. I also found that the carbonation dissipated fairly quickly; after just 6 hours, there was little fizz left in the can.

Overall, the flavor is nice – but also not particularly unique or memorable.

We give it a generous 69/100 for flavor.

Aftertaste

If you’re sensitive to the additional sweeteners sometimes used in energy drinks, there isn’t much of that lingering bitter aftertaste with this flavor. It’s very forgiving.

At the same time, its gentle nature means the flavor doesn’t stay on one’s tongue very long and dissipates after a minute or two.

Aftertaste is decent, but lacks excitement: 68/100

Can Design

The Mucho Loco can design is mediocre. It adopts a classic Mexican theme, with figures of Dia de Los Muertos, giving it a slightly Halloween feel. The can itself is light blue, with an orange gradient for the Monster logo. These colors pop, and look clean – but it doesn’t have much character. A darker design could have looked nicer, tying together some of the darker elements of Dia de Los Muertos, and allowing the skeletons to contrast more.

Unlike some Monster Energy cans, there’s no texture on the can. The pull-tab is black, though, which is a nice little touch.

Overall, we give the can a 60/100 rating.

Availability

Mucho Loco is very limited in its availability, most commonly sold in South Africa. However, it can sometimes be found in the United Kingdom and a few areas within the Middle East.

Because it’s difficult to find, we give it a 15/100 score on availability.
